SILAS THOMPSON
Raised in central Idaho, Silas grew up surrounded by rugged and untamed landscapes that instilled in him a deep respect for nature and a passion for creating. His love for art was nurtured by his parents and inspired by the untouched beauty of creation—a beauty he views as both wild and divine, spoken into being with greater mastery than any brush could achieve.
A childhood spent exploring the backcountry with his father left an enduring impression. The valleys, mountains, high deserts, vast plains, and raging rivers of Idaho became the foundation of his artistic vision. It is this world—both dangerous and breathtaking—that fuels Silas’s desire to capture the sense of risk, reward, and awe that nature evokes.

After college, Silas deepened his craft through four years of apprenticeships, refining his technical skills and work ethic in painting. His creative drive continues to center on the pursuit of evoking memory—seeking new and old ways to express solidity, time, emotion, and the tension between danger and beauty.
Silas finds constant inspiration in the world’s intricate design—from the daisy to the raven to the immense power of a storm cloud. These reflections point him toward gratitude, joy, and faith, grounding his work in a sense of purpose and reverence. He receives his greatest support from his wife and children, whom he values above all earthly treasures.
