DEBORRA MARSHALL BOHRER

In her early career, Deborra Marshall Bohrer devoted herself to the vibrant world of contract design, where she discovered a harmonious blend of art and business. Thriving on space planning for diverse environments—restaurants, hospitals, banks, and offices—she relished the exciting process of infusing texture and color into these interiors. In hindsight, these projects were her largest canvases, each one offering a unique opportunity for creative expression.

Deborra then took a transformative step by studying intensely with two renowned artists in the Northwest. The moment she picked up a paintbrush 25 years ago, her artistic journey truly began.Originally from Kansas City, her deep appreciation for the natural world was nurtured on her grandfather’s farm. Vivid memories of sitting by the creek, chasing fireflies against a starlit sky, and reading her book on the back of her horse as he wandered aimlessly eating the rich grasses amid vibrant thunderclouds continue to inspire her creativity today.

For the past 31 years, living in Sun Valley while raising her sons has deepened her love for the breathtaking wilderness and the majestic mountains surrounding her. She cherishes the opportunity to translate these magical experiences into her paintings, often inspired by beloved poems or her own adventures with words.

Now splitting her time between Boise, Idaho and Sun Valley, Deborra’s work has found homes in private collections and been shown across various cities, including Caracas, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Seattle, and even Paris. She currently has an exhibition at Hemmings Gallery in Ketchum, ID and has been a part of Art Fairs in both New York and Santa Fe. Deborra has also shown at 287 Spring Gallery in New York, Muse Gallery in Colorado, Coda Gallery in Palm Desert, California, and the Community Library’s Sun Valley Museum of History in partnership with the Smithsonian.

Currently, she serves as the President of the Boise Open Studios Collective Organization, where she passionately advocates for the power of art and community collaboration. Her leadership experience in the non-profit sector ranges from transforming urban spaces to enhancing local theater initiatives. She is grateful for the privilege of fostering professionalism and creativity within the Boise/Treasure Valley community.
