BONNIE GRIFFITH

Bonnie Griffith is a renowned contemporary and impressionistic landscape artist and educator, based in southwestern Idaho. Her deep connection to the land is rooted in her upbringing on a cattle ranch in north-central Montana, where she developed a profound appreciation for the expansive landscapes she often viewed from horseback.

Griffith’s artistic mission is to draw viewers into her work, allowing them to experience and imagine the time of day, temperature, sounds, and smells of the scenes she portrays. “My goal is to create work that draws the viewer in to experience and imagine,” she explains. “I want the viewer to get lost in the work – if only for a moment.” She finds stories in the diverse landscapes of sagebrush hills, lush river lands, wheat fields, vibrant spring greens, and the ever-changing hues of the desert. Her choice of mediums—primarily oils and pastels, along with gouache and encaustic—enables her to convey these stories with strong color and intensity.
