BILL GARIBYAN
Bill Garibyan’s artistic journey began in the former Soviet Union, where he grew up surrounded by creativity in his father’s studio. Immersed in the world of art from a young age, he honed his skills, later working at a local design firm while attending architectural evening classes at a nearby university.
In 1991, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, Bill and his family relocated to Twin Falls, Idaho. Although his initial years in the U.S. didn’t allow much time for art, Bill’s passion never waned. Today, his work stands as a testament to his dedication to the craft. Inspired by impressionism, he has developed a unique style marked by bold brushwork and harmonious color palettes, focusing primarily on landscapes and waterscapes. His creations come to life both in Plein Air environments and during focused studio sessions.
In 2022, Bill embarked on a new chapter as the owner and Resident Artist at Idaho Art Gallery in downtown Meridian. Through his work, he hopes to spark joy and inspiration in everyone who visits the gallery. As a devoted land and seascape painter, Bill draws inspiration from nature’s beauty, translating the world around him into vibrant oil paintings that reflect his deep love for life and creativity.
Bill’s art is a reflection of his personal journey, expressing his belief that creativity is vital to living a mentally fulfilling life. “…[M]y art and paintings have defined and shaped who I am and how I maintain the integrity of my own life. I believe that the ability humans have to express their creativity helps us live a mentally prosperous life, and through my art I achieve that euphoria,” says Garibyan.
In addition to his role at Idaho Art Gallery, Bill is a Resident Artist at Roux & Cyr Gallery in Portland, ME. He has been featured in publications including both Art Chowder Arts+Culture Magazine and Meridian Lifestyle. Garibyan has also been a Cover Artist for Boise Weekly, done interviews for KTVB Channel 7, and participated in countless community and national art events and festivals.
